2 Up Today!

On this fine Friday we rode 2-up on the Connie.  My hands were aching and swollen. Stupidly, on our first day in the mountains riding the Peak to Peak Byway from Estes Park to Central City, I rode without my gloves.  Not only am I a wimp and my right hand was sore from the throttle (that throttle lock really doesn't do any good in the mountains!!), but now I had severe sun and wind burn.  Seriously swollen.  As I write this over a week later, the scars are still very clear.  OY.  Lesson learned.  ATGATT. So I hopped on the back of Steve's bike and embraced the role of photographer up Berthoud Pass and through Rocky Mountain National Park, with some canyon roads as icing on the cake...

Oops.  :)  Helmet shot.

Sweet, savory hairpins.

For perspective.  It works, right???  Haha.

The laborious effort to keep my hair untangled.

Panorama from the highest point on Trail Ridge Road.  Stunning.
I gotta say, the passes are stunning, but for riding, I love love love the canyon roads!  This is Clear Creek Canyon Road (Highway 6)

Rivers and roads should ALWAYS go together!!!

"Thank you for using Tunnel Number 5.  Please keep your arms, hands, and feet inside the vehicle at all times."

$2.99 Prime Rib Dinner at the Red Dolly Casino.  :)
I took this pic the next morning, actually.  As if the day wasn't amazing enough, we had the great honor and luck to meet two very amazing people Friday night.  Gino and Fiona, from Scotland, are traveling from Argentina to Alaska, then back to the continental US on these two BMWs for a year-long adventure.  By  complete chance they were our tenting neighbors for a night and we chatted with them over our campfire for a couple hours.  I wish I had taken their picture!!!  The have their own blog, I'm sure they won't mind me posting the link: www.ginoontour.blogspot.com.  Check it out!!!
