June 12th.
Steve was having problems with his Sena unit (for communication). So, after calling around to motorsports shops, we found a replacement at a BMW dealer in Denver. Now, we wanted to take it easy this day since we had just rode about 1000 miles across the plains states, but going to Denver was never in the plan.
Once we got back up to Central City, we took a walk around town. Very cute town. For the life of me, I don't know why we didn't take any pics of mainstreet. All the casinos have to maintain the historic fascades (or so the visitor's center lady said). Very quaint. Stopped at the visitor's center and, I swear to God, I stated quite clearly, "We are looking for the County Courthouse." This super sweet older lady immediately pointed out on her map where it was and then, without taking another breath for, I think, 10 minutes, went on to point out all the casinos in town and the history of the town, which includes a whole lot of Europeans because our silly American ancestors didn't know how to mine a vertical shaft. That woman knows her town.
Extricating ourselves from the visitor's center, we walked, UPHILL, to the Gilpin County Courthouse where we ,directly, got married. The plan was to get the paperwork, then head on up to Mt Evans and do....well, something symbolic....to get married. Instead we filled out all the paperwork right then and there and done got hitched! The County Clerk rescued the original 1883 County Seal Stamp from the archives and uses that for marriage licenses! How cool is that?! Then, she took us up to the second floor to "Touch the Lucky Gold of Gilpin County" to ensure good luck in our lives together. Works for me.
Our vacation just turned into our honeymoon. :) We celebrated with a $5 cheeseburger basket at one of the casinos (upon the recommendation from the lady at the visitor's center).

I'm picturing you wedding write up in the Pioneer Republican...The groom wore a tradition cotton t-shirt in Mt. Dew green while the bride looked stunning in her navy shirt with spaghetti straps. I love it :o) Best wishes for a long and happy marriage!
